About muzzle brake installation

Budget rifle and budget muzzle brake.

Rem 783 223 HB 1/2x28 thread with midwest industries 3 ports muzzle brake.

I’d just go crush washer then, shims or jam nut it you want it timed (that particular brake looks like it would work best if timed). You might get lucky and time it with a crush washer, if one comes with it try that first.
 
Crush washer should be fine but it depends how tight it gets before it is timed. The wrench flats on that brake aren't very big.
 
I'm afraid I'm going to have to be that guy, but why are you putting a brake on a bolt action 223? Sh1ts and giggles? If so, carry on.
 
Getting a rifle with a threaded barrel, not allowed to have a suppressor, let's install a loudener! Really not for the recoil at 6'1 280. It's part fun & giggles part you see a little bit better your shots landing on target (I've heard). If I don't like i will just put cap back on the barrel. I would love to get it in 308 but diapers, car and morgage aare hitting me with sticks yelling that I can't afford it :d :(
