Accessories for Savage fcns 111/11.

Hello everyone. Fantastic forum ! Total newbie here, need your help please:

My first rifle, Savage 111, 30-06. Got the Sightron S3 8-32x56 lrmoa and I'm totally lost on what to get to have that scope mounted.

Could someone please advise me on the best choice of base/rings ? Anything else I should be buying ?

1 piece base, lots of choices. EGW, Warne, Near etc. All good, just depends how much you wanna spend. I like the Warne personally.

For rings I use Warne almost exclusively. Price is decent but the quality is awesone.

Thanks gaetoune, almost every store in my area sells mainly Leupold…i'm starting to think that since it's so much in demand it must be superior to other brands.
At this point price isn't an issue for me because I initially saved up for a Weatherby Mark V but instead took the advice of a good friend and went for a much cheaper rifle in order to spend more on the glass. I still love the way the Mark V looks and I'll probably add it to my collection in a couple years but that's a different subject :)

If you were to choose the best rings-base combo on the market (regardless of price), what would you go for ?
 
I am surprised nobody has made other reply to this.

Anyway here is my $0.02. I have seen and used many different bases and rings prices ranging from $30 to well over $300. Obviously there is different grades in quality and fabrication process and some brands have mastered this over others.

Let's start with bases. We are talking about picatinny rails, made of Aluminum or Steel. Base metal being equal, the specs are all the same as well, picatinny 1913 specs. From personnal experience, a $50 EGW will perform as well as a $200 Near, you can mount you ring/scope combination on them. After installing and using most brand of bases I now use EGW on low to med Caliber Rifle, and Warne for everything else. If you are planning on removing your scope often I definately recommend higher grade base, Warne is an awesome products.

For rings it is a touchy subject to some people. I have used a lot of different brands. I used to love TPS, until I tried the Warne Tactical. The Warne, in Tactical or quick detach are excellent rings, and priced decently. The desing eliminate the side to side torquing of regular desing rings. No need to tight one side, then the other, hoping the reticle stays leveled.

Again if you plan to remove your scope often, Warne garantees a return to zero when using a complete system (Warne Bases and rings), within 0.003" IIRC.

So, if you give me the choice I would use a Warne Tactical bases and rings, but for a hunting rig, Warne bases and Quick detach rings.

Thanks so much gaetoune. I ordered an EGW 1-piece base. I was offered a 15% off on the rings so I went ahead and bought those too, but I did get the Warne tacticals too just in case.
The EGW isn't as cheap as i thought…they were 170 for the combo. Now off to the range to see if my mounting skills are acceptable :)
