Im getting a 458win next week. I was just wondering what kind of range and accuracy I should should expect to get with this gun. Also, I'll need to get a scope for it. I already have a Weaver K4 fixed power and a BSA Contender scope but I doubt that either would be good. Any suggestions? Thanks.

With my .458 shooting 350 grain handloads I can clover leaf em at 100 yds for 3 shots. As for range i have takin deer with it at over 200 yards no problems at all!!!

The old K series steel scopes are very good at holding up to recoil. A fixed power scope is another good idea, and a low magnification gives you enough eye relief so you won't get tagged when the rifle recoils. With good handloads the rifle will shoot tighter than you can hold out to 300 yards. Trajectory of a 400 gr. Barnes X at 2300 fps is:
+3" @ 100
0 @ 200
-13" @ 300.

LOL...that's more or less what I'd do, though I'd personally prefer something in the magnification of 2.5...

Don't forget the Advil for your shoulder :D :D :D

Oh, just as important is getting the right mounts and screws for them! Go to heavier screws and lock-tite them in!
