Hi guys , I'm been planning a m14 blackfeather build , I'm new to the m14 and I've been doing a lot of research on this but I still have lots to learn and a few questions . So I've decide to go with norinco m305 or any one of its variants , so my question , is there any accuracy difference between a long or a short barrell m14's . I'm thinking of buying the dominion arms socom 18 , seems like a good deal . I know these are not the most accurate guns on the planet but I would like to maximize what this platform has , this won't be a long range rig ( as I have a AICS rem 7 build already ) more like a 100-300 yard plinker / paper target killer . So what do you think go with the shorty 18" or the 22" ? Thanks in advance ! Ernst

I have a long barrelled m1A. It is fairly accurate so far. 1 inch groups without trying and with surplus ammo.

change the oprod spring guide
shim the gas system
and could even bed it

otherwise, get a nice scope mount (ARMS or S.A.)
And change the rear sights for Garand rear sights if needed

You'll probably get decent accuracy

That's pretty good , believe or not I think I actually like the looks of the long barrel a tiny bit more , but the threaded muzzle brake on the socom 18 is kinda cool !

I plan on doing all the mods but I want to make the right call on barrel length before I buy one , it's always good to start with the right stuff , saves time and money and hair pulling in the long run lol!

Barrel length affects muzzle velocity, not accuracy. You will need more holdover at long ranges with a slower bullet. At 100-300 yards this won't matter, get whichever you please.
