Anybody had the chance to play with/test the new AI 223 magazine?

Striker66, any pics of your rifle? I'm seriously considering building a AICS stocked .223 rifle ... :D

Just got my .223 mags yesterday and the AICS 1.5 stock arrived today. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it out this weekend. Going to put it all together tonight. Will advise how it all works after playing at the range.

(Yes I know it's a Savage, but a R700 will look damn near the same) :p

2.560" is what I measure from front to back internally, I would think
2.550" or less OAL and you're good to go. For reference the rounds in the mag are 40 gr V-max loaded to 2.26" OAL

Striker66,

If you're taking special request, would you have a top view of a loaded magazine... and would you know what's the maximum OAL that could be used with that magazine?

Thanks,

Mike

I use them in my stock Remington 700 in .223 - just add the floorplate. The mag is the same dimension as the AICS .308 mag.

So... which floorplate system would you recommend?

Got an M700 SPS .223 that I would love to try this magazine system on for hunting groundhogs. :D

Help ... AI .223 mags but after checking Wolverines website i can't find an AI rifle chambered in .223 or a price . Where should i be lookin' for prices and pics an' twist rates an' stuff .

AI does not chamber their rifles in .223. You must use a Rem 700 chambered in .223 and drop it into one of their chassis'.

That probably explains why i couldn't find one . I was thinkin' that maybe they had something new in .223 .Thanks blacktailslayer .

Running Badger on the .308 and CDI on the .223 - both are good for target purposes. The CDI lever is closer to the trigger guard (smaller risk of snags).

CDI is out of Florida. Might have cost $209 + $30 for shipping IIRC and I had a gunsmith install it (some inlettting required) - could be dremelled. Same for the Badger and likely similar for the Beggs.
