Accuracy International Stock Question

I have been looking at an Accuracy International AICS Stage 2.0 Long Action stock for my remington 700 chambered in 7mm. I don't see one specifically for that cartridge. The 338 and the 7mm cartridge are close in in size. So my question is will my 7mm action fit the 2.0 long action stock specified for 338? If so, will their be any issues using the 338 magazine with a 7mm cartridge? Thanks.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but you can either get long or short action stocks. Short actions are for smaller calibers (.223 .308) and long actions are for larger ones (.338 .300 win mag). Not quite sure which caliber the action switches from short to long but if yours is closer to a .338, you need a long action stock

I believe they offer three stocks in right hand, short action, long action up to .300 Win mag and a third for the .338 Lapua.

ATR and marlink are correct with one small addition, you can also use a .223/ .204 Ruger Rem 700 action with the appropriate 10 round AI magazine in place of the .308 version. You do need the long action with 300WM mag for the conversion to 7mm RM

Thank you all for the comments, Correct me if I'm wrong. I can use the Accuracy International AICS Stage 2.0 Long Action stock specified for 300 win mag, for my remington 700 chambered in 7mm win mag. And won't have any problems running the 7mm rem mag cartridge in the 300 win mag magazine? Thanks.

Correct, worst case scenario would be that you may have to "tweak" the feed lips on the mag but it is unlikely.

Guy

If the 7 is RUM, SAUM or WSM, you are essentially pooched.

Not to say you don't know what you're talking about, but I'm having a really hard time finding someone with the same opinion/experience as yours with the 7mmWSM in a DBM system.

I put it to a poll on Long Range Hunting and the decision was unanimous, all with experience with the short mags and DBM systems saying it feeds fine.

I also contacted members on Sniper's Hide who swear by the 7mmWSM and have used it in a few rifles and brought up no red flags.

So where is this conclusion coming from? Seriously throwing a wrench in my future plans man!
