Has anyone pushed a plug through the bore of a NS 522? it would be interesting to hear the comments from someone who has pushed a plug through a NS522 and compare that to an Anschutz 54. The annies, and the suhl when pushing a plug have a somewhat loose bore. Once the plug is pushed past the initial resistance of the chamber the plug moves very easily down the bore until it gets to about 3 inches from the muzzle, then you really have to push on the plug to get it to come out. This is because the barrels in these higher end target rifles are choked. And that choke is a result of hand lapping…usually. Since the barrels on the NS522 are hammer forged they can actually choke them without having to hand lap, or they can taper the bore so it gets tiger at the muzzle. It would be very interesting to see if they are choked. My guess is they are, and that is likely the reason they are so accurate.
I did post this in an NS522 thread but thought the accuracy discussion would benefit from a thread of its own.
