Accuracy of the Sig Sauer

My experience from ransom rest tests (admittedly years ago) was that Sig P226 consistently outshot the G17 and the Beretta with most of the ammo tried. However, once you fold in the human and ammo variations, it's hard to predict which one will do best at any given time and with any particular shooter.

It would be solid real-world fact that on the Ransom Rest you can get one gun with one ammo that will be more accurate and reliable than any other...

However, I once went to a local range and did the whole experience of buying an overpriced day pass and buying 3 boxes of expensive 9mm ammo they sell: I shot Beretta, CZ, Sig, Glock, Smith&Wesson, IWI Jericho, Browning, Ruger, H&K, and maybe one more I forgot... It is expensive but I recommend it once for the experience of knowing what you like, what fits you, what you get on target with the fastest and what you shoot the best with.

For me the Sig was 100 times better than any other on what I liked, what fit me, what had the best sights, what was fastest and easiest on target, what I could handle on recoil and what controls fit me the best. Some had poor controls, wrong grip, poor sights and quite a few were way too damn light for me: I like'em a bit heavy on the front end. I remember that the Sig I shot was older and close to retirement so the accuracy was good, but not the best. However, I felt that the six other points were more important: accuracy didn't mean crap if the the rest were horrible. With a new one I figured I could overcome the accuracy from wear and have better performance over the rest.

You could go buy that expensive day trip and find out the CZ is your best... or Beretta... or S&W.. or (and on and on). Members here will have their own opinion: go find your own. :D

My Sig target is bang on

If a gun fits you right, with practice, this is possible at 45 - 50 feet, easily, with almost any gun.

Accuracy on Ransom rest is totally different than in your hand. Only way to find out is to try them out. Kinda like asking someone what jeans fits best.

Every shooter shoots differently. I shot a P226 a few weeks ago putting 5 rounds through a single hole at 10 meters. I was amazed at the results! Handed the gun to my buddy and he made a decent group, but had better luck with his 1911.

I personally love Sigs, but hard to justify their price point right now.... well.. not THAT hard...
