I am wondering what the accuracy would be like with a 20gauge single shot, modified choke in combination with those nifty 28/410 chamber inserts. Anyone know? Are these inserts available in canada and if so, where? Thx

Perhaps performance may be a better term of reference than accuracy as accuracy is more a descriptor along the lines of rifle bullets to an aimed at target. In shotgunning you point it where you are looking ( not aimed) be it a target, bird etc. Shotgun performance is usually judged by how it "patterns". This is quantified by what percentage of a shells pellets are within the boundary of a 30" circle at 40 yards range except the .410 at 25 yards.
Different percentages equal different choke designations like cylinder, modified, full etc.
Now that I have bored you silly, all inserts work, some are a pain in the butt as they will be ejected if you gun is equipped with ejectors. Others have provision to stay in the chamber while the empty shell is ejected.
In your case, I don't see an advantage to using one as it will only raise your costs per shot as 28 ga and .410 shells are much more expensive to purchase. For s**ts and giggles though...... Why not ?

I have fired a .410 insert in a 12 gauge, the patterns were somewhat erratic due to the wad getting mangled up in the bore and ruining patterns. You woud probably be better off using a 28 gauge insert in a 20 gauge as the wad would probably not get munched up and cause patterning problems to the same extent.

Anyone know where I can find an :canadaFlag:online store:canadaFlag: that sells 28gauge insert for 20gauge or 12 gauge?
