Accuracy:Tanfo StockII or CZ SHadow?

I have two Limited Customs and while not chambered for 9mm, I can certainly attest to the accuracy of the polygonal barrel design. I would say these barrels give nothing away in accuracy to button rifled barrels, as I can group just as well at 50 meters as I ever could with any of my other match guns. The real difference is that I can do it with the cheapest plated bullets on the market, because polygonal rifling doesn't score or cut the thin/soft plating the way button rifled barrels tend to. The polygonal cross section actually tends to swage the bullet as it is pushed through the barrel, so the plating doesn't peel off in flight after it exits, and any bullets that may have uneven plating (which means they are not concentric) tend to be "trued" during their passage.

My understanding is that the CZ is also an extremely accurate gun, but I don't know how they handle plated bullets, should on-going costs matter to you. I would be interested in finding out..............

Anyone?

well I use frontiers for practice and indoors in my CZ. At 20 yards the frontiers group slightly larger, say a 3 inch group instead of 2. Not enough to matter close up. Outdoors I use just jacketed for matches because of the 70 yard poppers.

Another guy with a Stock II was as accurate with jacketed bullets as I, can't speak to his experience with plated.

CZ Shadow is amazingly accurate!!. I've tried a few reloads through mine seeing the different results I can get. Beleive it or not, the best accuracy i got was from loading 90 grain Sierra hollow Points using HS-6 Powder. I also seated the bullet pretty deep in the casing. Even though the cartridge was overall rather short, the Shadow fed and cycled beautifuly and accuracy was outstanding. You would be hard pressed to find anything better then the CZ Shadow to shoot production.

In my opinion, go with the CZ, you'll never look back :)

Cheers

I have had both -Stock 2, and Shadow (actually, I sold my 1st shadow) , but still have one in my basement, in NIB-unfired, I purchased for a friend as his paperwork lapsed.
unless you bench these guns, in a rest, you will be hard pressed to tell the difference,....although I find for me, the S2 was just slightly more accurate. Maybe having a bull barrel makes that much difference. The SA trigger of these guns are great. OUt of the box, it is my opinion, that the Shadow trigger in SA is better, but with my S2 worked in, it is on par with the shadow. The DA trigger pull with the Shadow with a lower weight hammer spring is "different" than the S2,....the S2 has less travel in DA, but is smooth now that it is worked in. Both guns seem to want to get back on target quickly, all on there own,.....if you relax and press the trigger with a decent sight picture, the guns do all the work for you. I think the accuracy will change based on which configuration of ammunition you use. Very easy to get good hits with either gun, even on steel plates out at 25yards+! (see signature below*, link to hitting steel with S2)
I like how stiff the safety is on the Shadow as opposed to the S2, I hit my S2 safety a few times, as I placed finger up off the trigger to do a mag change.

CZ Shadow's are a great shooting gun. I tried a few other people's, and really liked it, so I bought one!! I figure if a Blindman can hit the target with it, it has to be good!:D Cheers!

Unless your ammo is absolute crap your gun should be able to outshoot you any day. ie You will see more variation in accuracy due to user error than because of your equipment.

I beg to differ. My Shadow and my Glock are pretty equal at 25m but the Glock groups are half the size of the Shadow's at 50m. Since the Tan II has a polygon barrel like the Glock I thought it might be more accurate so I thought I'd ask around.

no difference from what either one of us could tell. As HB says user error will show more variation than guns will. You simply shoot the Glock better than the Shadow, hence the reason you get better groups with it at 50m.
