Hey all,

This fall, I got phoqued up due to a cantilever mount on an 870 deer rig. I have a BPS turkey gun that is drilled and tapped for a receiver mounted scope, so I'm thinking of getting either a rifled barrel for it, or a Savage or Browning bolt slug gun or a TC slugger. Does anyone out there use a BPS rifled barrel? If so, what kind of accuracy are you getting?

I can't speak for the BPS with a rifled barrel, but a friend of mine has a Mossberg with rifled barrel, and with Hornady SST slugs, he's basically putting them through the same hole at 100 yards.

Ok, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but it's very accurate.

I have the cantalever BPS riflied barrel (it's all you can get for the BPS). Works great. There is no reason you can't get 1" groupings at 100 yards if you find ammo that your gun likes. I'm getting 1" groups with Partition Golds at 100. If I change ammo I get crap results.
It makes it great for removing the barrel to put on my bird barrel. I shot 3 deer this past deer season all at 100 yards or greater. Hit all 3 right where I was shooting.

My BPS is the Nat'l Wild Turkey Fed. model and is drilled and tapped for a scope mounted right on the receiver. If I go that route, I will simply cut the cantilever off. Thanx for the info.

For the price of the BPS barrel alone, you might able to get a Savage 220F for the same price and not have to destroy the barrel.
