After reading several negative comments on the net about Lee's .452 SWC and RNFP causing feeding problems, I 'bit the bullet' and ordered a 5 cavity aluminum block mould from Accurate. Uses Lee handles.

It's their copy of the HG design with a slightly tapered shoulder before the truncated ogive. This should facilitate feeding very well, although I've had no trouble with commercial 200 SWCs that have a sharp shoulder.

Not cheap, but I have another Accurate DC mould and it is a jewel of perfection, casting perfect bullets for my .50 Sharps rifles and my 56-50 Spencer.

Don't own a 50-90.

I own two Shiloh 50-70s, a Pietta 56-50 carbine and two .50 calibre Shiloh percussion rifles.

I cast and shoot 450 gr and 325 gr bullets from Lyman and Accurate moulds.

The 50-70 is a gentler cartridge in both rifle and carbine configuration than the 45-70. Shoots through bears at 100 yds.

I have a 50-70 in an original 1863. having tons of fun shooting it with 450 gr from Jet Hunter and 63 gr 2F. Easy on the shoulder. Using same bullet in my Shiloh 50-90 because it's all I have at the moment.
