Before things get ugly, I got this rifle without the original stock and have no interest in shooting with the uncomfortable original wood.
So, I have a run of the mill mosin sitting in a boyd's thumbhole stock. This is how I purchased it.
I have installed the aim point 1x7 scout scope mounted in place of the rear sight(eyes aint what they were as a teenager)
Timney trigger was installed today(fitting sucked..)
going to the range next weekend to sight it in and have some fun.
Now, the barrel is not floating, I considered it but have seen references to issues with harmonics when done.
Any truth to this?
Where is the general sweet spot for supporting it?
I may epoxy bed it but its a very tight fit in the stock.
Now understand that this was a budget build.
123.58$ for the mount and scope
170$ for the trigger
400$ for the rifle, boyd's stock, 880 rounds of surplus chinese and 40 rounds of soft points.
So 695$ into it, subtract the cost of the ammo... say 360$ and its a 335$ build.
Advice?
Pics to come tonight.
