Hi guys,

well, first off, this is simply a venting thread.... I have a sweet Remington M722 .308 in a AICS 1.5 stock. I use the Versa Pod bipod and custom spigot and love the set up for bench shooting. Lately ive wanted to add the monopod and went to Wolverines site to order one. Well my jaw hit the floor when i seen the price was 235.00 for the monopod!!!!! 235.00 for a monopod! Thats simply INSANE!!!! I will not even remotely entertain the idea of spending 235.00 for one! I mean COME ON. AccuShot CANNOT justify in any way the price! Its just not realistic! What a sick attempt of gouging a guy for a small part.... jeez it just Pi%^es me off when i see such gouging.....

Does anyone know if there is a more realistic priced monopod system that will fit my AICS 1.5 stock, that essentially does the same thing? Im thinking with the totally retarded price of 235.00 there must be some outfit out there that fills the void that such a stupid price creates?

......There, I guess my rant is done. I cant say I feel any better, as the price for one on Wolverine is still 235.00 (LOL), but maybe someone out there will see this who has one, and will part with it for a more realistic price. (wishfull thinking)

heck.... Here's a few pics of my Rig, just for the heck of it. BTW, im looking for a set of tan viperskins for it as well, i'd like to change it up a bit! ;-)

All in the same ballpark by the time you ship and with exchange rates..

snookered, unless you build one....

I had one on my 1.5, used it a couple times and took it off and sold it on the EE. It wasn't for me, I prefer using a bag. When I was looking for them Im pretty sure accushot is the only manufacturer that I could find

Correct me if I'm wrong but where does a mono pod go on a 1.5 as I own one as well but don't see a spot for one.?

Couldn't you make that same argument against that $300 scope mount on your rifle?

not really, IMO... The NEAR mount is a bunch of quality machining! where as a monopod is, well, its just a monopod! If it were 150.00, i'd prolly spring for one. But 250.00+ for one is just plain out of whack, for what it is! i have a seriously screwed up back, and it prevents me from shooting from the prone position. I cannot lie down on the ground, not to me ntion my knee's are shot as well. (ex- motocross racer). Im left having to shoot from a bench, so I though ta monopod would work well for me. Heck, if it wouldnt work well, 250.00 is too much to find that out! Maybe someone will have one one day that I can pick up and try out, if not, ill keep using my bags... or, maybe i'll win the lottery, then i'll try one. On second thought, even if i won the lottery, I STILL wouldnt blow that much on a small metal stub.... ;-) Hahahaa.

Oh... as far as where one mounts, there is a spot on the bottom of the stock where there is a hole where a long machine/hex bolt attaches it!

Save your money for ammo.

Monopods don't work well in my opinion.

Also your barrel looks a little to thin. That thing belongs on some mountain rifle for something! :)

Ginnz nice rifle, lookin good.

For the thumbhole AI stock a Square TAB rear bag just plain works. Due to the non-inclined flat area on the rear of AI's stocks the square design of the tab cradles it perfectly and let's you make those fine repeatable squeeze adjustments without things moving on you ( which the monopod will do).

My AI has the built in factory monopod and as others have said they are not ideal for shooting groups, a good rear bag setup is so much more repeatable. I leave mine turned in and never give it a thought. They were originally put on them for long hours of target observation.
