I acquired a Stevens 200 in 223. I'm quite sure it doesn't have the Accutrigger. Since this is a Savage action I was wondering if it's possible to fit an Accutrigger to this rifle. Rifle already shoots quite well but the trigger is not great ......

Google tells me yes, the trigger will work, might require a bit of modification though.

That said, unless you had a spare accutrigger just kicking around you'd be better off buying an aftermarket trigger like timney or RifleBasix.

Why is that? They used to be all over the EE for bargain prices. Although that was years ago when the world was a happier place
When they were plentiful and not long discontinued, they sold for peanuts. Even brand new my 30-06 was under $300, which was why I bought it...to use as a beater when I moved to the arctic. The kind of rifle you wouldn't think twice about strapping to a komatik or tossing in the boat. But what we all found out later, was that they all shot well, and some shot lights out. People clued in to that quickly and the supply dried up. My '06 shot sub 1/2" groups with the first handload I tried with Nosler 180gr Partitions (not exactly a match bullet). What started off as a bargain bin rifle turned into one of the best values on the market. I'm certain that Savage discontinued them because they were eating in to the Savage 10/110 market. Essentially, they were too good to keep in the lineup, as counterintuitive as that sounds. Sure, the stocks were flimsy, but honestly, that was a minor issue and people came up with all kinds of creative ways to stiffen the stocks (a popular one was to inlet the forestock and epoxy an arrow shaft into it). The trigger was no screaming hell, but you could adjust it easily and take out a lot of the grit, or you could simply replace it with a Timney or Rifle Basix for under $200.

Rifle Basix triggers are easy to install, and are incredible triggers !! I put two of them my old 200's.

Actually, I bought 3 of the 200's when they were 299.99... Got a 243, 30-06 and a 270. Fella shoulda bought a few more...LOL

Rattle canned the 243 for yotes, put a Rifle Basix trigger in it. Friggen thing shot amazing with my Nosler 55 grainers and took my biggest deer to date with it using 95/100 grain Partitions. Had my 243 for 8 or 9 yrs...sold it for 600.

Got rid of the '06 after a few years...600 bucks with rings and bases. Great investments at the time.

I still have my 270....my SIL uses it, I consider it "his" now ...this one also shoots cloverleafs @ 100 yds with my loads.

@ 5 times the price, they shot better than the Shaw Custom I had for a couple years !!!

Are the screws for bases 8-40 on Stevens 200 ? Looking for Talleys for mine but they supply the 8-40 screws with their monnts/rings and they specify making sure of screw size. Thanks
