Hey guys,

I'm looking at an ACE SOCOM telestock for a new build, and I just wanted to know what you guys think of them. I hear that they lock up solid, but that the foam isn't as comfortable as one might think. I've never held one before, so all I've got so far is hearsay. Does anyone know who deals in ACE in Canada?

P&D is the ACE dealer in Canada but I don't know how often they have the ACE productsin stock. I usually just order stright from ACE.

I've never used their tele-stock or heard anything about them. I have used some of their other products and if it is at all close to them in quality, you can't go wrong. Then again, maybe there is a reason you don't see them around that often.

I have one and am very happy with it.

It locks up solid and can be adjusted by two small screws if there is some play between the butt and buffer tube.
The foam isn't really for padding, but to keep your cheek off of a hot/cold buffer tube

Mebius,

Thank you for the link. What I read there is quite disconcerning, and I think I'll stick to Vltor like on my current AR. Why mess with a good think, I guess.

After reading the thread, everyone's main complaints were of the screws (I don't know which specifically, could be the ones you're talking about, Recce) backing out, regardless of whether or not Loctite was applied. The adjustment "Button" seizes quite often, as well, as the stock gets used more and more. Now, I don't think I would ever bash any doors open with the rifle, but if just shooting it is enough to loosen critical screws, and the adjustment button seizes around the 2000 round mark, I don't think it's something I would want to invest $250 CAD into.

Recce, how many rounds do you have through your stock? Have you noticed those two adjustment screws ever coming loose?

Thanks guys,

Brad

I'd take what you read with a grain of salt as the saying goes...

I've not owned this stock nor seen it, but I've bought other items from ACE Ltd. and never had a problem (I always thought their products from what I've seen had been very well thought out.)

I have another ACE stock on order as I type this :)

Pavehammer,
I only have about 500 rds with the stock. I have not had any problems yet with the screws or the button.

Alright. I'm convinced. I'll get one, and post pics when the build's done, of course.

Thanks for your help, guys. I was going to steer clear of it because of the less than enthusiastic reviews on ARFCOM, but those are few and far between, and for every naysayer, there's 100 people who don't have a problem with it. I certainly wouldn't be opening any doors with mine, nor abusing it until it comes apart at the seams.

Thanks again,

Brad

Yep... A happy customer might tell some of his/her friends. An angry customer is going to tell everyone he knows.
