Acetal Vs. Steel

... For a BFG VCAS sling in. I am thinking metal. But the acetal is quite strong, will remain durable till -40 (not too many people shoot when it's that cold anyways), is quiter, won't damage your finish, and it's a NSN issued item, meaning the US military uses it.

With all this, why do people like myself find the steel hardware favourable?

Acetal is issued to the USMC and slides slightly faster.

Metal is issued to RCMP and Dutch.

A large number of people still want all metal. Probably 55% Acetal and 45% metal for individual sales.

SAW/C9 sling (metal hardware) has a Canadian Forces NSN

Personal preference.

I suppose. The one thing I don't like about my VCAS metal hardware is how it snags on my clothing when I rotate my rifle to my back.
