I'm not there yet, but estimated barrel life for a Tikka T3 in 7RM is about 2,000 rounds. I'm guessing the wear will mostly be in the throat.
Is it possible to ream the chamber to 7RM Ackley to extend the barrel life once its worn? Would this require setting the barrel back also?
Would it be more reasonable to just rebarrel, or get a new rifle?
Also could it be reamed to 7mm STW? It shares parent case (375 h&h) with 7RM.
I'm quite fond of this rifle, although its a stock factory tikka T3, it's been good to me - shoot well, easy to reload for, fills the freezer.
Thanks for the input.

I have a 7 RM with worn throat....but its a single shot.....so I just seat the bullet out further.

In your case I would incrrase your OAL(IF your magazine will allow?)

If not just shoot it till accuracy degrades and rebarrel.

7mm STW is a fantastic round but losing popularity making its future doubtful with 7mm RUM and 28 Nosler here to stay.

you will need a new barrel when its that worn. no option for the 7stw as the action is not long enough on the tikka. also rechambering to a hotter round will not help if the barrel is already wearing out. keep shooting till the accuracy falls off. it may take a while.

you may see wear in the throat, but many a magnum, 264 or 7mm will also see barrel wear ahead of the throat, perhaps up to the first third of the barrel. Barrel life will vary based on the powder and bullet selection used in your ammunition assembly, rate of fire, cleaning and maintenance cycle etc.
