Hey CGN,

I am 100% new to optics, I normally just shoot irons on all my guns but that gets boring after a while lol. I would to scope my Swiss Arms Classic Green...20" barrel, and I shoot 55gr. ammo out of it.

I like the price/size/looks/functions of the ACOG 4x32 and the bullet drop system seems pretty badass!!! Will it still work okay for me with a 20" barrel and shooting 55gr ammo? As I THINK it is set up for 16" barrels and am unsure if it is done up for 55gr or 62gr ammo.

Any other similar optics I should be looking at?

Thanks,

- J

i have a 4x32 ta31 and it is superb on my 18.5 tavor. i say go for it you wont be disappointed and if you are, they usually move on thee EE fairly quick. my other choice would be an elcan specterDR

So do people LIKE this optic choice? I like the Eclan Specter DR, a lot but it is more then 2x as expensive.

I use a TA31-CH because it was designed for a 20" flattop. Accurate hash marks on the BAC which I have tested out to 600m with repeatable success. The Spectre is exceptional but you can find the 95% same solution to it in an ACOG for 50% of the price.

I have an acog on my swiss flattop. The cheek weld is terrible. It would be worse on yours over the irons. I say get a vortex scope and the cheek piece.

Acogs fit well on the tavor or ARs.

ACOG's used to be the hot ticket. Way ahead of their time. But they are not the be-all optic in my opinion.

However, in MY opinion - you are better suited now with a good 1-4x power optic. You can get a NF 1-4x24 for around the same price as an ACOG, and they are much more versitile. The only ACOG I still own (I've owned a LOT) is the Ta33R-8... it's nice and small, and 3x serves a good medium range purpose. Much lighter than the standard TA series, and much better eye relief as well.

YMMV, but in my opinion the TA31 ACOG's aren't that great anymore...

The 4x ACOG is an excellent set-up for your Swiss (Talking with experience here). I personally prefer the 3x compact model with Chevron reticle for its longer eye relief but with a rifle capable of longer ranges, the 4x RCO, TA31 (Not ''F'' model) or TA01(Not NSN) is the best weight ratio scope for your rifle.

Excellent choice, really enjoy the 1.5-4x switch in a shift. Not my cup of tea for the Heavy Swiss rifle though, too expensive and too heavy, my 2 cents.

i have a ta33 gh with dual illuminated rmr on top i like this set up i have tried eotech and aimpoint both on the tavor and wanted something with magnification the ta33 does a great job and has good eye relief it also looks like it was made for the tavor

Are all newer ACOG's using the fibre optic and LED/batteries now? Or are some still using tritium? And what batteries do they use?
