Anyone know what the ACOG or ELCAN approx hold offs using the BDC are (Scope is Zeroed at 100m)
I'm using 5.56mm 62gr NATO FMJ

Distances are 10m,15m,20m,25m,30m and 35m?
For ex: you would maybe use the 500m BDC for 10m

I changed my set-up and wont be able to make this short distance shooting test before my next CQB match...

With the Spectre DR BDC in particular,
when using 4x
@ 25m use the 400 mark
@ 20m and 15m use the 500 mark
@ 10m use the 700 mark
But IMHO @ 10m 4x is a bit much and you might need the 1x FOV.
So the trick is to flip to 1x @ 10m use the 400 mark and your POI will be close enough.

I'm not familiar with the sight picture in the Spectre DR, why would you aiming mark change to the 400 at 1x, can you not see the 700 at that magnification?

For the acog BDC, 25m = 300m

Thanks for all the input guys!
I'm using the ACOG TA31CH this coming Saturday and will test it out at the CQB Match Valcartier...should be a good tune up for the Oct 4th BBQ in Borden.

My Elcan C79A2 Zeros

10m = 500m zero + 6 clicks
15m = 500m zero
25m = 400m zero - 1 click
50m = 300m zero
75m = 200m zero
100m = O
200m = 100m zero +1 click
300m = 200m zero +3 clicks
400m = 300m zero +4 clicks
500m = 400m zero +4 clicks

A Total of 12X.25MILS ( clicks ) total elevation from 100m zero up to 500m. My computer gives me 13 clicks but my eyes and POA tells me different... ;)

P.S. 1 click = .25MIL

My ballistic app confirmed this after I actually zeroed my C7 at all distances. Your settings may vary form -/+1click for each distance because of eye placement, POA and parallax.

Cheers.

For CQB I just put the tip of my chevron at the 25m zero. I guess my TA31F with chevron reticle is now ready for 300m shooting. :)

Works for me! Lots of great information here. I might have to rethink my zeroing strategy. You guys are too smart for me! LOL

Yuk yuk yuk

Cheers, Barney
