Acog Ta 55-a

Anyone have experience with one? 5.5X50 mag. Seems like a good scope for paper terrorists....far away...

it's 12" long compared to 8"'s for the 3.5X models....even the 4X ones are just under 6"....

is this acog overkill....or uber kewl? better to stick with a 3.5x or 4x for the paper range? 200-400metres?

I haven't looked up the specs for that model but IMHO if you are shooting competitively out to 500 meters it's a big help to be able to dial in elevation and windage. Many ACOG scopes are not intended to be used much beyond 200 meters and once zeroed the turret knobs are not moved and you have to hold off for windage.
