Hello everyone,

I'm new to real firearms, but still have a good amount of knowledge regarding them. I've done a lot of research, and have decided to attempt getting my pal, r-pal. I've got an open mind, and will soak up any and all information you can offer me.

I understand that you must first do the CFSC, and then apply for your PAL (my father also has his PAL, non restricted). I am looking for a place locally that offers the cfsc, and have emailed my local shoot range/gun club.

Some random additional info:
Live in Richmond BC
Turned 18 in Aug
Currently play airsoft with local club

Thanks in advance, I am open to any words of wisdom/advice.

Correct, find a CFSC course, many ranges offer it or can point you to one. Lots of people go through Silvercore, which I did, very nice people, knowledgeable, and you will learn a lot, not just pass the test. I know DVC Ventures also runs a CFSC course, bi-weekly I think, that's my range and you should get a good experience from there too.

The 4 tests (restricted written and practical and non-restricted written and practical) are really easy and common sense. The written is multiple choice, the practical is just identifying and safely handling (clearing) different types of firearms, actions and ammunition.

After the test, fill out the RPAL application form (Silvercore in any case does this with you as you go through the course), cross your fingers and check the website periodically. With a RPAL application, your references WILL be called, as will you.

After your license arrives, join a shooting club if you haven't done so yet, apply for the Long Term ATT, and buy your guns.

Also, once you do get your license...be prepared to get a good paying job. Because you are going to want to buy lots of guns and lots of ammunition! :D

I know I did (and do!) :D :D :D
