Hi all,

When can we expect to see the Bushmaster ACR caliber conversion kits?

Anybody in Canada doing it at the moment?

Where did you get yours from?

Let me know.

Cheers

I can't help but think that the ACR is a firearm that really failed to live up to its original potential, when it was the Magpul Masada. The promise of a comparatively inexpensive, lightweight rifle with easy calibre changes has largely not materialized, and the DMR versions seem similarly in limbo.

To the OP and Master-G,

Just my opinion, but Cerberus, the former owner of Bushy, DPMS and Remington, also owned Chrysler through some very difficult times (please note: to all those who will say that until recently the firearms industry was on fire, which is correct, Chrylser dwarfed the companies in question). When that happens, typically management shuts down all R&D and new product development because their company is in a cash squeeze. Freedom group has since picked up those assets. In and of itself I would say "so what?". Except for one small detail...just look at the DPMS G2.

Time will be the decider, but for sure the initial impression of that product line is very impressive. So it begs the question, will this new management sit on these promising platforms like Cerberus did and not develop their potential? Or will it continue to take advantage of what they just invested in by energizing their product lines just like they did with DPMS?

The answer seems obvious to me but as I said, time will tell. We can only hope :d

With them $1 billion in debt and EBITDA down 50% year over year I'm not expecting anything to change regarding the ACR. If they'd drop the price, and maybe introduce the Remington Defense version (especially something like the 9.75" barreled, 6.5 lb SBR version) maybe they'd get more interest.

And as far as I've seen, Cerberus still owns Remington...have you seen different?

You are right Master-G, they do, as Freedom is still owned by Cerberus. Cerberus announced they were going to sell Freedom in late 2013 but so far it has not happened so my bad. I guess after seeing what DPMS has done to the .308 platform, I thought that there was change in the air from a change in ownership...but still, I remain hopeful. The Remington version you mention is much lighter than the ACR which would be great but from what I read it will be for LE/Mil only :(

We need a review of that beast sometime soon
I posted a little info a while ago in the hunting forum. It has to go back to Herron to fix some cosmetic issues caused by canada posts inability to ship items with care.

It has been over 4 months in waiting for them to release the funds. I would caution anyone shipping via canada post to try and avoid it as much as possible. The rifle was inside a padded hard transport case which was inside a cardboard box and they still managed to shatter the transport case to the point of where I can only assume they ran it over with something or threw it down a flight of stairs intentionally.

I had a non restricted 300 blackout barrel built for mine and it's functioning great and is very accurate. I also have a 6.8spc barrel I bought but haven't had time to finish the project.

We will never see the Remington version since it is a select fire rifle and therefore will be prohibited. Best we can hope for is to see the remington forend become available. If you want a shorter barrel have one made. It's just an AR barrel with a mid length gas system and a notch machined in for the op rod guide.
It's to bad they didn't use an AR bolt or caliber conversions would be a piece of cake.
