Acr dmr?

Looking at picking up a ACR DMR, seems to be what I am looking for in a 5.56, and just wanted some opinions from some people who know more than me.
No stores have it in stock around me so the wisdom of the forums is the best I can do for "How is it".

Any opinions from owners? Former owners?

So far I like the heavy barrel, hear it is fairly accurate with heavier 77gr bullets, and I personally just like how it looks.
Main downside I hear about is the weight, but it's a big heavy stock and a heavy barrel, so I don't expect it to be light.

Anyone have experience with this rifle?
How is the reliability in the outdoors? I am guessing with the metal, get some gloves for winter.
Take-down / cleaning ease? I heard some people say it is awful and others say it is simple so I got no basis on this.

The weight issue can largely be resolved as well. The enhanced folding collapsible stocks are available from Gravel Agency for $267. The Tri rail handguard is easily replaced with a RPM Tool or Nexus Tactical offering. These to upgrades will vastly improve any weight concerns.

In my opinion the ACR is the best offering available to us.

As far as ACRs go, I have always liked the folding stocks more. Cool to hear that Gravel has them ^_^

I've only handled one of the DMR models at the store but it wasn't as heavy as I was expecting, it didn't have any optics on it though so depending on your choice of glass it could be fairly reasonable. My converted to non restricted model has a Leupold 3-9x40 on it and it's not too bad for weight even with the Questar stainless match grade barrel.
If you plan to swap out the stock anyway I would suggest checking out the EE and looking for a converted to NR rifle with the polymer forend and folding stock. I think the aluminum quad rail forend is pretty crappy and it's especially silly on the DMR, I don't know how much crap they think someone would actually hang off the front of a rifle like this that's already muzzle heavy.
There are a few different barrels available these days and some are better than others so do a little research before purchasing. The ACR sticky has a lot of info to help you get a better idea of what you are getting into.
I'll second 1-20ish and say the ACR is in my opinion the best platform we have available to us, it's really unfortunate that the manufacturer/importer/retailers don't do more to support it. I'm on my second one and have also been through a few non restricted barrels and have made my own NR 300BLK and 6.8 SPC conversions for them, other rifles come and go but for now the ACR is a keeper for me.

Shipping a non restricted firearm is pretty much the same as shipping a piece of re-bar, it's pricey because of the size and weight but other than that it's simple. The shipper also takes care of everything other than picking it up so nothing to worry about as a buyer. Just don't get too excited and open the box in the post office when you pick it up. If they ask what it is you reply that it's mail.
