I can't seem to find anyone in the country with these ACR Telescoping/Folding Stocks. I have one ordered through a local dealer that they have coming from Gravel but they said it would take 1 month. That was 3 months ago. Anyone know of these anywhere in black. Makes things worse is I now think I need a second one for a new project.

Thanks
Moe

All parts seem to be backordered. You need to be patient.
I've been waiting for a bolt and extractor so I can complete my 6.8SPC conversion since January.

Thanks cr5, I will continue my wait. BTW I have tried every match ammo I can find on the shelf here in Edmonton through my SL8 and can't beat 1.5 MOA consistently. I know you advocate Nosler 60gr in hand loads. Care to elaborate on the load. I'm losing faith in this rifle after 4 range trips.

I was loading 27gr of CFE223 under the Nosler 60gr tipped varmint. It was near max load according to my Nosler #7 manual. I just loaded to whatever the book said for OAL.
Start a little lower than that and work up by 0.2gr per charge. With 223 I always step by 0.2gr because the case capacity is so small and I do see significant differences in consistency from load to load.
What optics are you using and how are you supporting the rifle when shooting?
If you want to try to line up a range day after the monsoon passes I still have some of those loads left and you're welcome to give them a try. I've owned 2 SL8's over the years and they both liked different ammo so my loads may not perform the same in your rifle.
I'm sure your SL8 will shoot sub moa when you find it's favorite food. Sometimes that takes a while though.

1.25-1.5moa is the best I could do as well with all the factory loads I tried. The SL8 I owned years ago liked 75gr Black Hills match and when I tried it in my last one it was terrible. The 77gr that is available now was better but still nothing impressive.

I can't speak to the SL8, but my 60gr Hornady V-Max loads over 26.5 gr BLC(2) get MOA or close to it in both my Swiss Arms (when I could still shoot them ) and ACR. Maybe give them a try.

Thanks. I do reload too but my gear is on the east coast and I am moving back in a year so it will stay there. I plan to reload then. I too work loads up in .2gr increments so I know what you mean. The scope is an unknown brand that was a gift (thinking Chinese crap). It is 4x16x56 and I use it's sunshade. Before I dis the scope, the scope was last mounted on a Tikka T3 223 and shot .5 to .75 all day with most loads and match ammo so I trust the scope. I have used a Harris but most times I use sandbags under the stock and butt. The rifle has a Hera BCK 2 and an AR mag well for mods. I don't have a level mounted on the rifle yet but do plan to mount one. I probably spend 10 min to shoot a 5rd group. I am off to a military exercise this weekend until mid June. I might take you up on your offer once I am back. Thanks again for the inspiration.

Don't need a level for 100yd load development. A level only really helps when you start going long range.
If you're using sandbags and the scope is mounted well then it's just a matter of finding what it likes to eat. If it's a Chinese scope I would still question it as it's easy for something to come loose and throw off your results.

PM me when you get back and we'll arrange a day to go shooting. If all else fails my Leupold mark AR on my NR ACR is on a QD PEPR and we can put it on your rifle and see if anything changes.

That's a second vote for a 60gr. Maybe I should pay more attention to the lighter side.
Thanks

I don't think it matters what weight you try but if one weight isn't working then just try something else. You can't overstabilize a bullet so you can go as light as you want, the tight twist is only required for the longer heavier bullets but that doesn't mean it won't work with lighter stuff.

My last SL8 did best with Winchester 50gr ballistic silvertips and 55gr Hornady v-max for factory loads and were both just a little over moa

I was always thought lighter bullets would come apart in a 1/7 twist (except ball). If so I could try some Vmax 52 ,55 etc

Nope,
Some bullets can but almost all jacketed are built to handle it. I've shot 55gr v-max from my 7 twist barrels without any problems at all.
If you go on the bullet manufacturer website they will usually state if there is any concern. If not then assume it's safe until you see evidence that they are coming apart in the air. I'm actually going to (just out of curiosity) try some of my 36gr Barnes Varmint Grenade rounds that are working really well in my 12 twist bolt gun. I'd like to see how they do in my ACR and AR that both have an 8 twist.
