I acquired this firearm a long time ago and not really sure what make it is.
If i recall correctly i put in a 8mm round and handed it to my brother (yes hes still alive). We only had the one round and that was close to 20 years ago.
I think its a Mauser action, i cannot find any writing on the barrel or receiver.
Would the action be worth keeping and building from that?

Post this in the milsurp section. You will get a answer quickly. I would also recommend not cutting that gun up: sell it and buy something else.

looks alot like my 8x57 mauser, does it have a real skinny forestock, double set trigger and also a skinny grip(behind the trigger)more pics please!! I shoot mine regularly and use it to hunt with

Looks like a large ring mauser98 action.
Could be a ddr/yugo/czech K98 rebuild if its been scrubbed of all markings.

The bolt handle looks like a straight one thats been bent at some point.

Race it up a bit. This one was a behind a cabinet special as well. I had to lay on the stain to hide repaired / filled cracks but it's pretty much the same thing. Scrubbed action w/ mismatched bolt.
Mine's got a repro SSR sniper mount and vintage Kahles scope.
Shoots really nice.
Because it's scrubbed you can do want you want with no conscience req'd. Don't let the purist's tell you otherwise, it's a great rifle but has negligible collector's value. Still worth pretty decent $$$ too.
