I've recently picked up a very nice older rifle--a Schultz & Larsen M68DL in 7x61 S&H. However, the action screws (which are metric M6x1) have buggered heads, and I'd like to be able to replace them. Does anyone know of someone who makes screws for guns? I've checked out a couple of large-scale manufacturers of fasteners, but haven't found anything on their websites that would duplicate the appearance of the existing screws.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Here's a picture of the two screws.

Can you not put them in a drill and dress them off smooth, at least you'd have the originals.
Otherwise, try western gun parts.

If you can repair them or find replacements, that is always the best/cheapest route.
However, If you are un-able to do so, feel free to pm me about making some up.

Paul.

put in a vice and tap down any high metal with a flat punch and hamer. recut the slot with a file and cold blue the heads. faster than finding new ones.
