The Camrose Shooting Sports Association passed a motion last Tuesday to create an Outdoor Action Shooting Sports range in Camrose. Phase 1 has begun and the excavator is taking out the trees. Next week we start moving dirt to create phase 2 the 10 metre range. Hopefully by June we can get Chief Firearms Officer approval and be shooting Action Shooting Sports outdoors in Camrose. Depending on the availability of dirt phase three will be a 25 metre range.

The excavator took out the trees on Thursday and Friday. They are realigning the backstop berm on Monday. They have already started on the side berms. If someone tells me I could post photos. I don't know how to do this on gunnutz.

They need to be hosted online somewhere like photobucket.com and linked in your post.

I'm really curious to see what the range looks like. It's been about 25 years since I've been there.

Pictures Up!

Robpad, I took the liberty and used the pics from your email.

That the view to the west just north of the 25m firing line.

More dirt arrived this week. The 100 yard range will be closed on Wednesday April 22 so we can do the backstop berm work on the action shooting range. Numerous club work bees going on in the next few weeks. Check out Camrose Shooting Sports Association website for more details. Due to the constructions of the action shooting range this is also causing us to make improvements to the 100 yard range.

You haven't visited many ranges in Alberta, have you? Not with that comment you haven't!

I don't particularly want to drive 3 hours in either direction to find a Friendly place. Edmonton doesn't seem to have much and comparatively speaking to where I am moved from its no where as convenient.

Vancouver island is much better for action shooting.

Really???....... how do you figure?

That is a pretty bold statement......now back it up.............

How far is Camrose from Edmonton? Please forgive my ignorance :-( I have only shot at the Spruce Grove range and rarely travelled in AB..........

Seems like Camrose is the only Action Shooting Friendly place in Alberta. I will most definitely become a member.

Ah, so it's about having a convenient drive rather than making factual comments.

About an hour, depends on where in the city you're coming from/heading to.
