Hello folks.

Pardon my noobish entry into this particular section of the forum.

I've been really interested in shooting action shotgun for quite some time. I've built a decent rig and would like to give it a try on a very amature level.

Is there anywhere around Brantford, ON that does this kind of thing?

Send a message to Stormbringer. There is action shotgun at EESA which is by St Thomas / Aylmer area. I believe that he went down to the States this past summer competing in this.

Yes indeed....EESA is getting more and more into Action Shotgun type matches.

As listed above we have an IPSC shotgun match on schedule for May 14th. 7.62mm (our resident SG Guru) has put together some excellent stages of shotgun goodness.

Then on July 9th (and likely 10th) we are hosting our first ever ZOMBIE SHOOT which will be a Multigun match (carbine, handgun and SHOTGUN with an additional 4 rounds of sniper rifle.)

You will need a Black Badge for the SG only match and either a Black Badge or Holster certification (IDPA) to participate in the Zombie match.

Do not have a BB yet? Have no fear I will be holding a course in April.

EESA is 45 minutes from Brantford.

Edit here is a link to the thread about our trip to the USA.

You'll have to excuse my questions - I'm an AVID recreational shooter but would like to step my game up, so to speak.

So - I go get my 'black badge' - whatever that means, and then I can participate in shotgun matches?

I don't have a restricted license, do I have to have one for BB?

Generally speaking, are the matches a friendly environment for new guys?

I've been to a few gun clubs that are very 'old boys' kind of places and am not interested in getting into these types of groups.

In order to participate in IPSC events, one must take the Black Badge Course. Basically it is an IPSC Rules and Basic Safety course.

I ran a non-IPSC Shotgun Match last year at EESA, and may do so again in the future as time permits. As it is, we seem to have a pretty full roster this year already!

Most matches are newbie friendly, and all are pretty focused on safety, as they should be!
