Actual load data for WC-845

I got 20 Lbs of WC845, and want to start loading some Rifle rounds in .308/7.62 Nato 5.56mm and 30/06

does anybody have any experience with this powder and some sucessful loads?

I got the powder from Higginson a few years back.

Id think it is too fast burning for use in the 30-06, but should be ok in 308. It is similar to H335

I was shooting out of my 7.62x51mm M305 a load 40.5 grains of WC845 with 150grain spitzer SP. AOL 2.743 (Mixed commercial brass). Seemed like a rather mild starting load. I wouldn't hesitate to go up one grain. No FTF's after about 100 rounds. Start using H335 data less 5%

in .223 55 grain FMJ's over 24.4 grains of WC845 (maybe a little hot - should back down maybe to 24 gr.).

I treat it just like a ball version of IMR 3031. So far, I've used 3031 data as a basic guide, and it seems to work pretty well.

Here's some 308 loads I used. None were worked up to max. They were mostly light loads just for plinking. Use the usual cautions anyways.

308 win. ww primers, RP brass

2.5" 5 rd group at 200 m's.

I loved this powder until Higginson ran out and then I had to buy a shztload of WC735. Same loads as the WC845:

In my M700 sniper rig, I loaded 40.5 gr. with my 155 gr Sierra HPBTMK bullets & Hornady AMAX slugs. Got around Mid-2700's to 2790 fps give or take in the Jun, July, Aug hot weather.

For all of my .223 loads, the 23.5 grain worked well for bullets in the 69 or 68 grain range (about 2800 fps plus a bit). I liked using the same powder charge of 23.5 grains for my 50 gr Hornady VMAX bullets coming out of my M700 SPS .223 at around 3100 fps.

Like I mentioned, with the WC735 now replacing the WC845, I'm using the exact same powder settings and throwing the indentical charges. Life is good. Remember that YMMV....

I am running low on WC845 but I loaded the same 155 Sierras as Hungary with 41gr 845 in my buddies M305. 1" groups all day long. I hope the WC735 is as good.
