Finally got a reply from the fellow who makes them.

He makes 2 types.
One uses shotgun primers and .22 airgun pellets
The other uses .22 cartridges.
Both come with instructions, and I do use both of them.
They are very well made. there is a short rifled barrel inside the cartridge case.
I was also advised that with the .22 adapter, you can load a .451 round ball ahead of it and use a .22 blank. He said he nailed a garden raiding raccoon with that arrangement (Only good for short range with a round ball of course)
These adapters are not something you would use for rapid fire but what the heck, a Martini-Henry isn't a Lee enfield.
