Only my second SKS, haven't really been on the hunt for one but been wanting a Chinese version and so was keeping an eye out in case one in really nice condition came along. Thanks to EE and Weimajack, one did - I picked up a great letter series Russian (the proverbial "unrefurbed, unissued" - who knows, but it's in amazing shape too) from him awhile back, and knew he has good stuff. This one he said was from his personal collection and it looks the part: arsenal 316, 1970 production, and all matching parts with the stock and bluing in awesome shape; now detailed stripped and cleaned:

...and with the Russian, all matching too and in just as good shape

Thanks folks - I'm no collector, but something about these rifles keeps me having an eye out for another - relatively inexpensive, easy to work on and easy on the eyes, small enough that maybe just one more will still fit in the safe, and lots of cheap ammo for when the zombies rise lol.

Going to Edmonton for business at the beginning of October. Hoping for Cabela's folks to be helpful and understanding...I,d like to have the choice to look at a few before I pick one up. It might be hard to find one with a good bore if its jam packed with cosmo? Aren't they coming in a sealed plastic bag?

I already own a 1952 Tula refurb hardwood, so I will not buy a beat up chinese, it would have to be a good example to use as a shooter....if its not better nad what I have in terms of looks/state, im not buying..

You occasionally see a really nice one show up on EE, like this one, so keep an eye out there too.

Newbie here, looking to get an SKS as my second purchase. Who is weimajack - or more importantly how do I get in touch with him? I looked over the dealer forums but didn't see a correspondence.

He's a smaller supporting business member, active on the EE mostly, try a search on his username.
