Adding a bull barrel to a syn 597

If I add a match bull barrel to a syn. 597, does this also mean I am forced to buy a new stock?

I just ordered a bull barrel for my 10/22 and I had to order a new stock. If you have a wood stock you can sand it out. But I here it is tuff to keep straight. I've never done it, but I'm sure someone here has.

You will need a new stock.. The barrel channel isn't big enough. Boyd's has Laminate thumbhole stocks with a heavy barrel channel.

I've heard of people on rimfirecentral that used a wood dowl or a socket from a wrench set wrapped with sandpaper for their stocks
