I am hoping to buy a SR-22 and I have heard that they do not come with threaded barrels in Canada. I wanted the threaded barrel so I could have a suppressor on the end which makes it look so much better. Now, what is your advice? Are there good suppressors I can mount over the barrel or what are the cons if I'm going that route? Or anyone can suggest a good gunsmith that could thread it for me? As U can see, I am very new to this.
-Thanks

First thing you should do is a little reading
start here http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1191038
Next thing you should do is move to the US if you want a suppressor(or the UK or NZ)

As far as I am aware you will end up in handcuffs and leg irons if you pursue this , they are prohibited in canada , so you may as well install brass knuckles on the forearm , nunuchuks on the buttstock and maybe a cpl magnetized throwing stars on the rail? same amount of time for the crime?lol

Hopefully I am wrong but I think I am right , because darn.....i got an sr22 in my safe that I would love to do it to!
Cheers
Garth

Most gunsmiths should be able to thread the barrel for you, but you may be better off just buying a new barrel that is pre-threaded. Dlask would be a good choice ;):D They sell barrels that are threaded 1/2x28.

As for the suppressor, don't get caught using it or like the others mentioned, you'll wind up in cuffs and earning a new BFF named Ben Dover.

But you can get a fake can/suppressor for it just for looks and that would be your best option

The primary con to this is sound supressors are prohibited devices. There seems to be some confusion with your terminology, are you talking about a sound supressor/silencer, or a flash supressor/hider? I hope you are refering to the latter.

If you are indeed talking about a flash supressor, then go nuts. You are within the law.

you can also get the new sr 22 with the threaded barrels now..

Here in Canada? So far I have heard that the threaded barrel is only sold in the US. We get the SR-22RSC (model 1236), last I checked.

And yes, I was referring to a muzzle brake. Basically for looks.
They are legal, and flash hiders are not, or?
And I was not talking about a sound suppressor(silencer)

Ah, Juster. I was only trying to make it clear what I was referring to, for I have had a lot of comments on my wording/terminology on this matter. So I was mostly correcting myself there. I'm so glad that you took it so well.
