I hunt in WMU 68A I was talking to a gent today who was positive you could by additional archery tags. I looked at the regs and in the additional tag list 68a&b are missing.....

I take it you can not buy additional tags in these WMU's so the question is does any one know why there are no additional tags avail in these WMU's....I have seen more deer this year then any year before.

Thanks

well not that it helps you in your area, I was into the ministry yesterday in Guelph and was told I could purshase 7 additional tags for my area if i wanted (wmu 80) and more gun tags are coming on the 15th, LOTS more the person said.

I can't imagine that more tags aren't available for your area, there are SOOO many deer around this year!

There were no additional tags available for WMU 68A. That decision would have been taken by the MNR District Office in consultation with the provincial deer biologist. I suggest you contact them to find out why that decision was made.

Here near Kingston (WMU 67 north of the 401 and 69A south), there are a LOT less deer around this year, but extra tags were available for both areas. I am guessing that next year's tag allocation will be a lot less.

I'm guessing it will be 0. They've already dropped from 1000 to 280 this year.

As for 68b, the ministry obviously feels there are enough deer to open a muzzle-loader season in December, but have no additional tags available...Doesn't make much sense to me, but we are talking government...:)

As well, in 67 the draw is 100% for antlerless, yet if I go across the Hwy to 68b, the success rate is only 80%.

And PLUS they know that the hunters on the other side of the highway do not have tags, so they are safe.

Thanks for the info guys I was hoping to get another tag. I keep seeing small bucks and some large doe's but I'm kinda holding out for a larger buck. I would like some meat in the freezer so I figured if there were tags I could shoot a smaller buck or doe then take my time tracking down the big guys.....

The 80% draw on the anterless is horse #### I didnt draw one and I keep seeing huge doe's.....the guys I hunt with treat their anterless tags like a last resort if they cant get a buck I could have got them both doe's already but they wont let me.
