Hey people,

I picked up a nice (read, cheap!) old 12g Beretta/Sauer over-under recently... not even sure which model it is, (can't seem to find much on the 'net) but it has double triggers, locks up real tight. Not a collector's item, but in nice shape, and just the thing for the few times when I want to have a 12g out in the field, instead of the 20g. Might even try some trap with it.

The only thing is, it was shortened for a child or woman shooter, so I need to add some length to the stock. I hate the slip on recoil pads, so I am either going to have to add 1 & 1/2" of spacers, [] or install one of those adjustable butt-stocks.... I wouldn't mind exploring the latter idea, as it could be handy to make the length adjustments depending on how heavy a jacket I am wearing etc.

But I don't want to invest a ton of $$ either, as this was not an expensive find in the first place. You get the idea.
So, what are those adjustable butts worth, and who carries them?
Anybody got a used one to sell me? ;)

thankee,
popcan.

Order from Brownells in the USA - think a Morgan pad is what your looking for. Can get it either in a flat or curved pad and the pads are interchangeable so you can swap between the two. Base plate stays on the butt and the pad can be unscrewed and swapped in seconds.

Thanks!

I think I found what I need at Brownells...
It's called a Graco adjustable butt pad, sells around 50 - 60 bucks.
LOP, rotates, for toe in/out.

Good enough for what I need :)

By the way, does anyone know anything about these Beretta/Sauers?

Here's the closest thing I can find to compare with what I have:
Mine is not an S56E, but it is very similar, with the articulated front trigger, small cheekpiece, same logos on the receiver, sling swivels.

* EDITED TO ADD: I have since found out that mine is indeed an S56E, but it is an earlier version that does not have the "S56E" stamped under the receiver as in the pics below: (mine is stamped in a hidden spot), and the engraving pattern is different.

BERETTA 1963 S56E - DT - 12 BORE - 28" - 14 14 1/4" LOP - EXCELLENT CONDITION - Beretta-Sauer - Double Triggers - Vent Rib - Overall a 98% Gun - M & F - 6 Lbs. 15 Oz.

#P23438, Beretta-Sauer O/U Model S56E Named Sauer-Beretta 12 Bore Made 1963 with 28" Ejector Vent Rib Acciaio Speciale Al Cromo Molibdeno Steel barrels at .726 .021 & .040 (Mod. & Full), 2 3/4", Double triggers with the front articulated, Game forend, Open pistol grip stock at 14 1/4 x 1 5/8 x 2 5/8" over a Sauer-Beretta buttplate, A small cheekpiece, Sling eyes, 6 lbs. 15 oz., It has 75% engraving coverage of floral & scroll, 98% barrel blue, The wood is 98% and the checkering remains at 99%. This is a total 1963 built S56E by Beretta that was proved in Italy and Sauer sold in Europe. It has the Beretta logo and the Sauer logo engraved on the receiver and it is called a "Sauer-Beretta". This is a lot of gun for the money when you compare quality and price with the current offerings on the market today.
In 1963 your Father was in the U. S. Army stationed in Germany. He kept drooling on all those European SxS's and O/U's at the PX. He finely scrounged up enough cash to buy this handsome Beretta-Sauer; he paid $205.95, and hauled it home when his tour was over. It never made it out of the house while you grew up and he traded it off for a set of golf clubs. Now you can buy Dad's gun back and pass it on to your son. If only guns could talk.
