Adjustable tip off rings???

Is there such a thing? I just picked up a rifle here on the EE and when I mounted my scope it was crooked as hell. It has some cheap tasco rings with it. It is likely a flaw in the rings themselves, I noticed the pre4vious owner had the rings mounted in opposite directions. Since I need to buy new rings anyway, is there a better tip off system out there? maybe something with adjustment.

If it turns out that it is not the rings.... how do I fix it?

Marlin 917VS , grooved receiver, no bases.
Yes Tasco is garbage, they came with the rifle and unfortunately around here, there is nothing else. So that is why I am asking to see if there is an adjustable set out there.

It might not be an issue with the rings, I had another set of Tasco here and tried them as well, same issue. I filed down the "clamp" part of the rings and now it looks pretty straight.

They make windage adjustable rings?
Didn't know that.

There are some good quality air rifle 1" rings that fit dovetails and have windage adjustment. Google the pages in Canada and I am sure you will find some.
