I'll be the first to admit that I am not too mechanically inclined.
I can change oil, a battery and tires on my truck and that's about it.
Anyway, last year my buddy gave me a beauty of a custom 280 in a Brno Mauser 98 action, new barrel, Sako trigger, synthetic stock, jeweled bolt and slick floor plate.
But the gun fired almost as soon as you thought of touching the trigger.
So yesterday I looked up instructions on how to adjust the trigger weight on a Sako L61 action (which my trigger closely resembled) and today I took the action out of the rifle, loosened up the lock nut and adjusted the screw in to make the trigger pull weight heavier. I only had to go one-half a turn and then a hair more in final adjusting.
I don't have a trigger adjustment scale, but I just kept tightening it and trying it until the pull felt similar to the pull weight on a Mauser action 270 I have with a Timney trigger I had put in and secured the lock nut in place.
I'll try it out at the range and if it's exactly where I want now I'll secure it with a drop of Loctite.
