How to adjust my Mossberg 590A1 Ghost Ring rear sight?
The tiny 'owners manual' tucked into the box makes mention of the sight
(in passing) but is of little help when it comes to moving the aperture,
stating simply, "Rotate elevation ring for elevation adjustment". Well, here's a newsflash: My elevation ring is not rotating. There must be something Mossberg's not telling us--are we supposed to raise the spring-loaded aperture with one finger while spinning the 'ring' with another?
I don't want to mar the 'milspec'(?) finish any more than necessary.

Hey CW, have you tried YouTube yet?

Oh, and congrats on your newly purchased 590A1.

Thanks, 'Man'! I like the new shotty a lot! And thx for the link, but it seems like the chap who posted the YT clip failed to mention one important step in the procedure.
I found it impossible to rotate that elevation ring in the manner described in the video or in the owners manual. Today I discovered what I believe to be the designer's intended method of sight adjustment.
In order to allow the elevation ring to rotate, it is first necessary to use a 5/32" allen key to loosen the “scope mount screw” that fastens the aperture to the receiver. Back that screw out by ~ 1-1/2 turns, but don't remove it. Then lift up the aperture (I used a tiny screwdriver to lever it to the desired height). It is now possible to coax the toothed ring in either direction. Don't forget to retighten that all-important allen screw to ensure the ring won't move around in the field.

I’ll get out to the range again tomorrow and see what difference my correction made. Now that I’ve discovered the correct method
I can perform further adjustments on-site, er, and “on sight” : OD
