Adjusting Swede sights? Snälla hjälp mig!

I just got two Swedish Mausers (a 1918 Carl Gustav and a 42 Husqvarna) How do I adjust the elevation on the rear sight? The tab on the right side of the ladder hinges downward, so I would think I should just be able to push the tab down and push up or down on the sights. Problem is that neither move. Am I doing something wrong or is it more likely that I just need to oil them? Help a Swede noob :)
 
That should indeed do the trick. Perhaps something is hanging them up on the ramp? Try flipping them up to the vertical and sliding the bit with the flexing tab back down toward the rifle...
 
Lol been there done that... Try some oil.
The little side tab should move/unlock the rear sight for adjustment, you could try it from the flipped up position also.

Btw when you get to the next stage... they are zeroed in at the factory @200 meters with the service ammo if the day.

Your options:
1) Play with reload recipes until you can match the original loading.
2) Buy a set of front sights in different heights.
3) Install an adjustable rear apature sight...preferably a vintage Swedish one.

#3 is what Swedish hunters and target shooters did back in the day. Check out some of the rifles on the tradex sight.

What I don't recommend is trying to scope it... Just not worth it IMHO.

If you can get a good, solid, no-drill-no-tap scope mount and a spare bolt which can be modded as necessary, scoping is more of an option than you might think.

With iron sights, these rifles are winners already.

The 6.5x55 cartridge is one of the most highly-developed match rounds in the world.

In their CG-63 and Danish (reworked 98) configurations, scoped 6.5x55s, in the right hands, have proved themselves devastating out at 1100 metres. Ask anyone who shot the CFB Shilo 3-man Sniper matches just before everybody was sent off to 'Stan for a 'holiday' with the Taliban boys. Some VERY impressive shooting those days, believe me.

The 6.5x55 s one of those rare cartridges with which you can HIT with certainty anything you can SEE and DISTINGUISH. All you have to do is know how to shoot.
