Hey CGN,

I have had my Swiss rifle for over a month now, have shot it a few times now and have came to the conclusion that it is shooting quite low. I am shooting it with 55gr American Eagle and I am NOT using the bipod, I either free hand shoot it or rest the rifle just in front of ot on the magazine and I know how to shoot...my rifle is grouping but its always grouping low. At both 100 and 200 yards.

So I would like to adjust the diopters but am unsure how/what is the best way to do it. Do I have to adjust them once and be dome with it or once at every "stop" on the 4 positions on it?

Thanks,

- J

Using the Number 3 drum, set up a white paper target with a black dot drawn on it at 33 meters. Put the front post directly in the center of the dot, fire two rounds and adjust first the elev screw and then the windage. Repeat until you are dead on.
This gets you in the ballpark. Now set up a target at 300m (preferably a steel gong) and aiming at its center using the same number 3 drum adjust elev up until it starts ringing the gong consistently (it will most likely be a bit low when you start, mine was). I zeroed mine this way with the same AE55 ammo and it is dead on at 200, 300 and 400 meters using the respective drum settings for those ranges.
For a 6'clock hold at 300M just rotate to the number 4 drum setting.

Got to thinking...

My range only goes to 300 YARDS, which is 28-29 yards short of being 300 yards. Will it matter much?

Just zero the 200m at 200m then all the others will be zeroed.

Conversely you could do this at 100m with the open sight, but it would be much harder because the open sight sucks for precision shooting

I zero the 200m peep sight for about 1.2'' high at 100m, then confirm it's dead on by shooting some 200m groups. This zero's all the positions on the diopter and makes accurate hits out to 400m, anything beyond that becomes more difficult because the sights start to obscure the target.

I realized after shooting that the 100M sights were at best, for quick "torso shots" and not much else.
