Basically wondering how to do this, mechanically that it. I know where I want it to go but I'm not sure how to loosen it. I've searched but I think my search terms are wrong as I can't find a good diagram or description of the "tool" used to loosen whatever is holding it in place. I thought it best to ask rather than try a screwdriver right away. I'm sure it's simple... Is it just a screw?

Thanks

I made one with a robertson screw driver and a dremel. I used a robertson with a metal shaft the same size of the screw head, cut the suare end off the roberson screw driver and ground a notch in the shaft to fit.

Took me 10 minutes and it works.

Did the same thing. Easy and effective. Good steel, great use for a worn Robertson.
I also regrind worn Robertsons into smaller slot type drivers.

Well I finally got around to looking at this and it turns out I don't have the grub screw after all. I guess it's just friction fit?
It looks like I need a tool more like this one.

I think I will fashion one out of a small "c" clamp instead.

Does anyone know the history behind this difference?

btw, I discovered it's called the "foresight" not front sight and that term produces many more results in my searches.

You might have a screw in the front of the foresight base. You may not as well, depends on the year of manufacture.

The sight it self can be drifted with a samll punch and hammer.

Do you know what year that little grub screw first started being used? Mine's a 1953 Fazakerly PF series No4 mk2 and definitely has no grub screw in the front of the base.
