I'm trying to adjust the stock on my 391 Teknys Gold sporting (no montecarlo or adjustable check piece).

The beretta guns are known to be adjusted for right hand use when it comes from the factory. But I'm a left handed shooter. I have somewhat slanted shoulder and a relatively long neck. How should I adjust the stock to fit me?

The gun came with plastic inserts.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Read the instruction manual that comes with the gun ... if you diddn't get one
(used gun ?) - download one from Beretta's site on the internet.

For a left handed shooter, you would generally want some cast-on (to the left), in order to let you look straight down the rib when you mount the gun
( cast-off foir right handed shooters) The shims provided have the centre holes "offset" one way or the other, depending on how you place them ( the manual tells you how) the amount of drop is indicated by a number on each sim ... as I recall, the higher the number - the more drop. By trial and error, you want to be able to look straight down the rib, as a level plane. If the rib looks like it's rising or pointing up when you mount the gun - you'll require more drop. If your looking into the back of the receiver and have to lift your head up to see down the rib, you need less drop. Play around until you get a good sight picture by just putting the gun up quickly with your face on the stock firmly. If you can see straight down the rib withoto adjust - you should be close.ut

The shims work for both right and left handers. The numbers on the shim are metric measurements and give you the drop in mm. (e.g., 55 equals around 2.20")

To make a shim with a right hand cast work for a lefty just flip it over and the shim will create cast on instead of cast off.

Claybuster : Right on !

The shims are also labelled both sides ... as I recall,
one side is something like CX the other DX - as to which is left or right, I forget, but the manual does spell it out !
