are there any common household tools that can be used to adjust windage on a 91/30?
Can the teardrop tool that comes with them be used to adjust the front sight?

anyone figure a way to sight in for UNDER 100 yards on a Mosin?

thanks

A sledge hammer will do. Lol
Put the barrel in a padded vise then apply some penatrating oil and some heat, that will help loosen it up then give a few tap with a hammer and a punch. When that doesn't work get a bigger hammer and try again. If that doesn't wok move up to a bigger hammer.

To get a 100m zero you either have to make the fron sigh taller somehow or lower the rear sight.

Hammer and brass punch works for me, with a sand bag on the off side. i just watch the witness marks shift in relation with each other.
There's also a bloke on eBay who makes sight adjusting tools for various milsurps, but not really worth it if you only have one or two rifles

Elevation I don't need to deal with. For my reloads I end up having to raise my back sight a few notches on every one of them.

For elevation the "bubba" trick is to strip some insulation off 12guage electrical wire, warm it with a Bic and sleeve it over the front post. Let it cool and shrink, then cut/file the insulation to height at the range.

Avoids replacing the front post entirely, and can be undone easily enough should you decide to start shooting with the bayo attached (which is how it would have been zeroes initially).

edit: Uh, that might be 14guage wire, can't remember.

No need of heating or anything, there is always the right tool for the right job; look for a "mosin nagant front sight adjustment tool" on ebay. It's about 20$ and with it you won't damage your barrel by heating or hitting it.
