I like the idea - but this is really only ok for light weight fragmentation ( from grenades and 40mm ) if the insert is "soft" and it is used with commercial devices.

It needs to be a "hard insert" to actually protect any commerical devices, even so the vibration probably will shake some soldiering or connectiond off. A 9 hitting a soft will probably bend an aluminum case or crack plastic, and dislodge things on the board behind.

Better than nothing, but I think it is 50/50 if it is a bullet hit.

The same idea could be useful for the actual tactical radios, or with a hardened device ( not commerical tablet ). If I run a tactical radio or a real tactical tablet, I want it to survive some basic threats.

Yes lots of energy behind a stopped bullet even 9mm. We could explore adding SHOCKEZE Pads or using our hard level IIIA+ inserts, but for now decided on our current option due to weight and bulk(interfering with drawing magazine); being only 92 grams and taking up minimal useable space, there is no real disadvantage to other admin pouches, but with the added benefit of being level IIIA.

I have sent your comments and suggestions to R&D.

in all honesty 120 bucks for an admin pouch and an insert is not expensive at all. It is actually quite cheap. I paid more for a kangaroo pouch.

But knowing the threat and the practicality, I actually would love to have a thinner and lighter insert for this purpose ( really just enough to absorb a .22 projectile) I will re-purpose that level3 piece as a mini tummy/ half groin protector to put it behind the kangaroo pouch. An upper groin/ belly button penetration is more nasty IMHO.
