I was thinking of going cheap on a Norc copy of a P226 or CZ75, but I think I will most likely buy a Glock 17. I know they fit my hand nice, and I haven't handled a P226 before. I would hate to put down some cash and then be disapointed. That being said...is this kit any good?

Kit is very good and well worth the money - highly recommended. Find the ammo it likes (Mini mags or Power Points good place to start) and have fun.

what kind of wear will the glock get from the kit? the frame and trigger etc would still be in use. I wouldn't mind getting one. but if I did I'd be putting 1000's of rounds though. (per day :D :D )

would it make more sense to spend that $350 on a 22 pistol instead of a kit and wearing out an $800 glock?

You will never wear out the glock frame shooting this 22LR conversion. I have read of people with 10's of thousands of 9mm/40s&w thru their Glocks without a problem.

The slide on the A/A conversion kits is made of aluminum and are very light. Keep the slide lubed and you will never have a problem.

The other thing to do would be to get the Target model because the slide is not moving on the Glock frame like the LE versions.
