Advantages of a .22 Compensator?

Trying to figure it out, still can't. I can see how they would smooth out rapid fire on a caliber with some weight, but if it reduces the energy of the bullet would that not reduce long range target effectiveness on a .22? And there is almost no recoil to start with, so I am missing something?

I don't think that it would reduce the velocity or the energy of the bullet. The gas that makes the comp work
is obviously behind the bullet so I would think that the bullet has left the gun before any effects take place.

It does not reduce the velocity of the bullet.
What it does is provide a few outlets within the upper part of the compensator,
kind of like the retro-jets and directional on a space vehicle. It reduces the upward
natural recoil, even if minimal, by forcing gas jets upwards, and the muzzle down a bit,
thus reducing the upwards travel of the muzzle.
