Hey guys I just wanna hear a few opinions before I pull the trigger on a used optic. I have the choice between a bushell legend 5-15x42 or a millet buck gold model. Both in the same price range of 400. What are some experiences with these?

I don't know anything about your second choice, but I am a fan of the 'Bushnells, the legend is a nice scope, with a lifetime warranty.

The only Bushnell's I'd recommend are the Elite series. An Elite 3500 3-9x40, Vortex Viper 3-9x40, or Leupold VX2 3-9x40 would all be good choices around $400. Skip the high magnification and get a better quality scope with less magnification and features. You will thank yourself in the long run.

I like a scope with generous eye relief. Vortex Crossfire II, Nikon Inline XR, Hawke Endurance and Burris Timberline all have good eye relief and are all less than $400. The Nikon is only 3-9 power, the Burris and Hawke have a 4-12 power and the Vortex has a 6-18 power.

Have a look at the new STAC 3-15 and 4-20... Cost wise right in the ball park that you are looking.. Optics are stunning and I doubt anything even remotely close in this price range.

Clicks on turrets are wonderful clear and precise.

Excited about mounting and shooting this in a few weeks.

I'm still interested on people's opinions on the vortex models. I have a 3-9x50 vbrite on another rifle and a 3-9x40 on a Sks. I'm curious about the higher magnification budget friendly scopes.

I've been going through scopes like bed sheets in the last 2 years.
Listen to the guys who have given you advice on the thread so far.
Leupold, Bushnell Elite, mid range Nikons have been good to me and most recently I've been switching a few to mid range Sightrons with great luck. Watch the EE for deals and check sales from vendors.
Its been my experience that saving money for mid to higher end range scopes pay off.
