Hi guys, I'm looking for advice for an accurate .22lr rifle for use at distances of up to 100 metres with open or peep sights. I'm thinking used here and probably a repeater rather than a single shot. I want a tool that will will help me better my skills and not break the bank.

I'm just looking for advice so any ideas regarding what to think about or stay away from would be appreciated.

thanks

You'll probably have an easier time with a peep over open sights at 100m. Some of the old Mossbergs came equipped with peep sights. They tend to be pretty accurate as well and not too expensive.

would you, by any chance, have a model name for the mossberg?

There is a C.I.L. 180 (Anschutz 64 action) for sale at Ellwood Epps .
$145 I think, with sights.
You WILL NOT find a better rifle in that weight class for 50 or 100 meter shooting, for that money, or any other !

Various models of Mossbergs had peep sights. Shooters Choice in Waterloo has a model 44US(b) listed for $65. It says there is a scope on it though, so you'll have to ask if the original sights are still on it. The C.I.L Catnthehat mentioned would be a good choice as well.
