Advice for first sporting clays shotgun

Agreed on the price, but - with the exception of the lightweight, the Instincts weigh about the same as the much vaunted Beretta Silver Pigeon. Not as light as reputed - but still way lighter than the log with a barrel that Browning offers. :)

Rob!

Instincts are light guns. There was no mention to which model Instinct was being referred to but my SL barely broke 6lbs. The L is heavier with the steel receiver, but even still, did not come close to breaking the 7lbs mark. Both guns are nice field guns, but they are not appropriate clays gun in my opinion. And although Im a big fan of the Franchi line, these guns wouldnt hold up with high volume shooting like a Beretta or Browning would. Now if someone wanted to invest close to $3000 canadian after taxes in the Instinct Sporting, then all the power to them. But there are plenty of better options at that price point

1500-2000 rds a year is less than 2 rounds of skeet a week.

I suspect gun weight doesn't matter as much as a high volume shooter... The L would acceptable I would think.

OP has already bought a gun, but if someone were looking for an L and couldn't find it for 1K, they could certainly find a Bettinsoli field.

The Bettinsoli is the same gun at a lower price point but I fear a field gun wont hold up to serious volume shooting. The Bettinsoli clays guns are quite nice and surely built on more durable platform
